THIS WEEK

CURRENT ZOOM VERSION 7.0.2 (5 April 26)

--------------------------------------------------

Tuesday May 19

On Tuesday evening we were meant to have seen Kevin Pigney - all booked many months ago. However, when I contacted him with the Zoom link he realised he had double booked us with an in-person presentation. I have now re-arranged this talk for January. However, instead we were treated to the WPF 2026 Welsh Salon Acceptances, kindly and expertly compiled by Dave Condon. Dave told us that there had been over a thousand entries this year which must have made the selections very difficult indeed. The quality of the acceptances was superb throughout each of the sections - including the new section of Phone Photography. There was a cheer each time one of our own members' images appeared. It was a very relaxed evening and everyone really enjoyed seeing such high quality work. Many thanks to Dave, and congratulations to all those with acceptances. We must also mention the three Selectors - Susan Ashford, Gordon Jenkins and Gary Shinner, for achieving fabulous results in such a short space of time.

Thursday May 21

Seven of us plus 2 dogs (Sam and Todd) out on Thursday at Clyne Gardens. It was wonderful to meet up with John Campbell, as we hadn't seen him in a while. We were also delighted that Diane was able to join us later. The early part of the day was overcast and we all wanted to know where the promised heatwave had gone. But after our essential coffee at The Touring Tearoom we wandered off in different directions, Heather and Ceri deciding to walk along the seafront. Lunch today was at The Junction Cafe - a very simple but delicious snack of bacon and egg rolls. As Dave and John C will not be at our meeting next week, we took the opportunity to present the Print of the Year Awards to Dave, Winner of the Trophy, and John C, Runner Up. And then the sun came out!! Another great day in wonderful company.

Next Thursday May 28

Next Thursday - Porthkerry Country Park CF62 3BZ There's a Cafe on site. Low Tide: 11.10 High Tide:17.58

Here we have an opportunity to see trains, boats and planes. There is a short walk along a boardwalk through a meadow to the beach, and near the cafe there is an amazing Viaduct where trains pass over. The park is so close to Cardiff Airport that you are likely to see a number of planes arriving and departing. Something for everyone, so I hope you can join us.
